What Is a User Interface?

A user interface is a menu that is presented to the user while in the headset. The user interface grants the user access to all of the functions available within the headset.

The UI of the Oculus Rift places you in an environment of your choice, defaulting as the outside patio of a mansion. This area is surrounded by tiles, containing links to different games, the store, and friends. The PSVR does not have a dedicated UI but it shares one with the PS4 console itself. The PS4 console's UI involves tiles, similiar to the Oculus Rift but in a 2D environment. The HTC Vive employs SteamVR (a third party gaming platform) as it's UI. In this UI, you are place in a personal room that you are able to navigate. It can be customized with items unlocked by playing different games.
